Small changes are the biggest changes
My passion for Gut Health started when I became so obsessed with laxatives to help ease my bloat and IBS. I got it down to a T and even knew when to take them to be able to shift the bloat in time for nights out, etc - shocking, I know!
But around the time I had my little girl who is now three and a half, I found something that was naturally good for my gut and worked amazingly. And because I loved it so much, it showed when I spoke to people about it, and that’s the beauty of word of mouth. People then started wanting to know what it was I was using, and that’s how my journey started…
I didn’t want to go back to my corporate job. I desperately just wanted to be around my little girl, so the thought of going back to work really put me in a bad place. Eventually, a year after coming back from maternity leave, I decided to quit my job, take on a part-time job where I wasn’t always bringing work home, and I followed my love for the health and wellness industry and decided to run a business from home.
Now, there are a lot of ways of earning money online... BUT I’m talking real money. I became a rep for a well-established, highly reputable brand, but this is where I have to be ME and be real, because if I’m not real then how can people trust me? So I had to learn a lot about myself, and as a Mum it’s so easy to forget your identity.
And now, I’ve been able to reduce more hours in my job, all because I believed in these products and other people believed in me too.
My top tips for a healthy gut:
1. **Chew Mindfully:** Take your time to chew your food thoroughly. It aids digestion by breaking down food into smaller particles.
2. **Hydrate Smartly:** Drink water before meals, but avoid excessive water during meals as it can dilute stomach acids needed for digestion.
3. **Include Fiber:** Fiber-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains promote healthy digestion and prevent constipation.
4. **Probiotics for Gut Health:** Incorporate probiotic-rich foods like yogurt or consider supplements for a healthy gut.
5. **Moderate Portion Sizes:** Eating smaller, balanced meals can prevent overloading the digestive system, promoting smoother digestion.
6. **Limit Processed Foods:** Reduce intake of processed and high-fat foods. Opt for whole, natural options to support a healthier digestive system.
7. **Stay Active:** Regular physical activity aids digestion by promoting bowel regularity and reducing bloating, even if it’s a slow and short walk to start with.
8. **Mind-Gut Connection:** Manage stress through practices like deep breathing or meditation, as stress can impact digestion negatively.
9. **Warm Beverages:** Sipping warm liquids, especially herbal teas, can soothe the digestive tract and assist in digestion.
10. **Listen to Your Body:** Pay attention to how your body reacts to certain foods. Adjust your diet based on what promotes optimal digestion for you.
